Vehicular movement was disrupted for several minutes today ,at the ever busy Iririh Obasagbon road , a suburb of Benin Metropolis following protest embarked upon by some residents of Obasagbon community.
The residents who carried various placards with inscriptions “please Governor and the Great Oba of Benin p rescue us From Joshua Edo” ” Joshua Edo stop bringing Terrorists to Obasagbon ” ” Joshua Edo, Okaigele is not hereditary ” among others.
In a remark, Odionwere of Obasagbon, Pa Pullen Obayuwana said the rationale for the protests was to let people know the atrocities being perpetrated by the deposed youth leader of the community, Mr Joshua Edo.
He alleged that since his removal as the youth leader of the community, Mr Edo has been attacking the community with thugs who often times shoot sporadically in the community.
Pa Obayuwana appealed to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo and the Oba Benin to come to their aid by calling the Mr Joshua Edo to Order.
Also commenting, some residents who corrobated Pa Pullen Obayuwana allegations, appealed to the Inspector General of Police to also Wade into the matter as they can no longer feel safe in the community.
meanwhile efforts to get the reactions of the deposed youth leader, Mr Joshua Edo on the allegations of threat to lives against Obasagbon residents were unsuccessful.
