Troops have rescued six abducted civilians and arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators in Northeast Nigeria, the military said Wednesday.
The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), confirmed the operations took place under ongoing Operation DESERT SANITY.
On May 12, troops intercepted a suspected terrorist crossing point near Amuda, the military said. The operation followed an air interdiction mission around the Mandara Mountains.
Soldiers rescued six women and children. They are Aisha Musa (18), Aisha Mohammed (17), Fatima Yahaya (20), Saudatu Musa (4), Garba Mohammed (5), and three-month-old Mohammed Yahaya.
According to the military, the victims were abducted during a terrorist attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026.
They received medical care at a military facility. They were later reunited with their families through the Ngoshe community leader, Mallam Adamu Gunda.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops arrested a 40-year-old woman, Hauwa Bulama, the military said.
The arrest happened at Tango 7 location in Konduga Local Government Area.
Items recovered from her included detergent, washing soap, a torchlight, and food seasoning cubes.
Preliminary investigation suggests Bulama was traveling to Gezuwa to meet four of her children. The children are believed to be terrorist members, the military said.
She has been handed over to relevant authorities.
Follow-up arrests
In Damaturu, Yobe State, troops arrested two more suspects, the military said.
They are Bakura (18) and Adiza (17).
The arrests link to an earlier operation. That operation intercepted a suspected ammunition courier, Ba’akaka Abubakar (alias Modogol). He was caught while finalizing plans to supply ammunition to terrorists.
Investigators said Adiza was tasked to collect ammunition from the courier. She was to deliver it to a terrorist commander.
Security forces are now hunting the commander. The suspects remain in custody.
The military said it remains committed to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in the North.
