The Nigeria Police Force has invited a former Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Wenike Danagogo, for questioning over an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
According to a letter of invitation sighted by Spear News Nigeria, the police summoned Danagogo to appear at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) complex in Abuja on Thursday, January 15.
The letter, dated January 9 and issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Police for the IRT, directs Danagogo to report for a “fact-finding exercise” as part of an ongoing investigation. It cites Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, as the legal basis for the summons.
While the letter does not specify details of the investigation, reports said security sources confirm it is connected to a leaked audio recording.
The recording allegedly features a conversation between Danagogo and a Port Harcourt-based doctor discussing plans to bring in foreign nationals to assassinate the former Rivers State governor.
The police have already arrested one suspect, Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, in connection with the alleged plot. Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed an individual is in custody but declined to provide further details.
Danagogo, a close ally of current Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, served as SSG during the peak of the political crisis between factions loyal to Governor Fubara and Minister Wike.
