Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary, calling on citizens to reflect on the ideals of the nation’s founding fathers while reassuring Bauchi residents of his administration’s commitment to sustained development.
In a goodwill message to mark the anniversary on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the Governor described Nigeria’s independence as a historic milestone that freed the nation from colonial domination and granted its people the right to self-determination, socio-economic growth, and political progress.
“Though our development trajectory may not match that of some countries that gained independence around the same time, Nigeria has made significant strides in governing itself, managing diversity, and uniting towards nation-building,” Mohammed said.
He acknowledged that prolonged military rule had hampered democratic growth but expressed delight that 26 years of uninterrupted democracy had enabled citizens to begin enjoying the dividends of good governance.
The Governor highlighted his administration’s multi-dimensional approach to development, particularly in infrastructure, security, and economic empowerment, and disclosed that Bauchi will host an Investment Summit on October 8th and 9th, 2025 to attract investors and unlock the state’s economic potential.
On security, Mohammed reaffirmed that peace remains the foundation of development and pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to protect lives and property. He also urged citizens to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
Calling for renewed patriotism, unity, and prayer, he stressed that Bauchi’s progress and Nigeria’s advancement depend on the collective commitment of all citizens.
“Let us continue to work together in harmony, with hope in our hearts and faith in Almighty Allah, to make our state and our country greater,” he said.
