Liverpool secured their first Premier League victory of the season on Friday, beating newly promoted Ipswich Town 2-0 at Portman Road.
Alexander Isak struck twice inside the opening nine minutes to give Liverpool a commanding advantage, before the visitors held on for a clean sheet and three points.
Liverpool had begun the campaign with successive 2-2 draws against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, leaving them searching for their first victory under new manager Andoni Iraola.
Isak ended that wait emphatically, opening the scoring in the sixth minute after Cody Gakpo picked him out inside the penalty area. The Swedish striker composed himself before firing into the right corner.
Just three minutes later, Isak doubled Liverpoolโs advantage, latching onto another pass inside the box and producing a precise low finish beyond goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen.
Liverpool continued to create opportunities, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz testing the Ipswich defence, while Isak had a third goal ruled out for offside in the 33rd minute.
Ipswich threatened at times but found Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson in inspired form. He denied Daizen Maeda in the first half and later made important saves from Zian Flemming and Kasey McAteer as the hosts searched for a way back into the contest.
Liverpool also introduced new signing Bradley Barcola in the second half, giving the French winger his debut after his high-profile move to the club.
The victory moves Liverpool to five points from three matches, following two draws and one win, while Ipswich remain on three points.
It was also Iraolaโs first victory as Liverpool manager, providing an early boost after a start marked by two high-scoring draws.
