The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed a large number of terrorists and destroyed one of their hideouts in Borno State, in a major step up of its counter-terrorism operations in the North East.
The precision strikes were carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on Wednesday, September 17, at about 10:50 a.m.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information, the mission was launched after intelligence and surveillance reports spotted unusual movements at Bula Madibale in the Gezuwa general area.
He revealed that about 45 terrorists, some on motorcycles and bicycles, had gathered at the location. Two flags linked to the insurgents were also seen there.
โActing on this credible intelligence, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai launched a coordinated air interdiction,โ the statement read.
It continued: โThe strikes achieved devastating impact, eliminating several terrorists at the gathering point, while the flagged structure and other hostile assets at the location were destroyed.โ
The NAF spokesman added that the operation shows the militaryโs determination to stop terrorists from regrouping, reinforcing, or mounting further attacks on communities in the region.
He reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring peace and stability, particularly in the North East.
