Minister of state for defence, Bello Matawalle, has congratulated former Zamfara governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, on his appointment as director-general of President Bola Tinubu’s Campaign Council.
Mr Matawalle’s political movement made this known in a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by its publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris.
Mr Yari, a former governor, represents the Zamfara West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Mr Matawalle, also a former governor of Zamfara, expressed gratitude to God for guiding Mr Tinubu in appointing five prominent indigenes of the state.
“We express appreciation to President Tinubu for appointing Yari as Director-General of the Campaign Council,” the statement said.
Mr Matawalle was appointed deputy director of security and intelligence, while Governor Dauda Lawal was named to the stakeholders mobilisation committee.
Mr Tinubu also nominated former Zamfara governors, Ahmad Sani-Yerima and Mahmud Shinkafi, to serve on the campaign council.
“This significant consideration has further placed Zamfara on an enviable position,” the statement read in part.
The movement congratulated Yari, Matawalle, and the other appointees, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver Mr Tinubu and the APC in the forthcoming elections.
