The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, and the Director-General of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET), Professor Charles Anosike, have been honoured with BusinessDay’s Excellence in Public Service Award.
The prestigious national award celebrates public officials who demonstrate outstanding leadership, strategic policy execution, and high-impact governance.
The award was presented at a grand ceremony held at The Blanc Event Hall in Abuja’s Central Business District on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025.
The Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, presented the award. Minister Keyamo was represented at the event by the Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Captain Alex Badeh Jr., who received the plaque on his behalf.
The 7th edition of the awards was attended by eminent personalities, captains of industry, and senior public sector leaders. Notably present was former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, represented by former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim.
Other distinguished recipients at the ceremony included the Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yussuf Tuggar, amongst several other senior public service leaders.
In his remarks, Frank Aigbogun, Publisher of BusinessDay, stated that the annual awards are dedicated to celebrating federal ministers, heads of departments, and agency leaders who show exemplary commitment to responsible policy formulation, operational excellence, and broad stakeholder engagement.
Aigbogun noted that the awards are distinct because the judges assess not only the achievements recorded, but also the manner in which they were realised—emphasising the importance of transparency, coalition-building, and sustainability.
He added that in a period marked by economic challenges and the national imperative to deliver on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, many public officials, including this year’s winners, have shown remarkable innovation, resourcefulness, and resilience in fulfilling their institutional mandates.
