Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly, has officially resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker, who serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance, submitted his resignation letter dated May 14, 2026, to the APC Ward Chairman of Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State .
Reason for Resignation
In his letter, Senator Maidoki explained that his decision was informed by the unresolved internal crises plaguing the party. He stated that these lingering issues had made his political aspirations a source of concern .
“I am writing to inform you of the withdrawal of my membership from the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rafin Zuru Ward,” the letter read in part. “My decision is based on the lingering internal crises of the APC that has made my political aspirations a source of concern” .
Despite his departure, the Senator expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve under its platform and conveyed his regards to the ward leadership .
Background Context
Senator Maidoki was among three senators who had relatively recently joined the APC after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, reports from March 2026 indicated that these senators were notably absent from the APC state congress held in Birnin Kebbi. At the time, loyalists alleged that their members had not been included in party activities from the ward level upwards .
His resignation is expected to generate significant political reactions within Kebbi State and among APC leadership as political realignments continue ahead of the next election cycle .
