Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has issued a warning to bloggers and social media users allegedly spreading false information about his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, declaring that he will no longer tolerate fabricated reports about her.
In a statement posted on his social media accounts on Monday, the lawmaker appealed to the public, particularly Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to give her breathing space.
“I make this appeal not just for her sake, but also for the sake of the kids, who are very well cared for and deserve to see their mother supported, loved and given every opportunity to get better,” he said.
Senator Nwoko noted that the video Regina shared on her birthday gave people a glimpse of some of the health challenges she has been dealing with.
“Regina has been through a lot, more than many people may realise, and right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover. As someone who knows what she has been through, I can tell you that this is not a time to judge, vilify or add to her burdens. It is a time to show compassion and allow her the opportunity to heal”, he said.
The statement comes amid a protracted and highly public marital crisis that erupted in October 2025. The couple, who held a traditional marriage ceremony in Aniocha, Delta State, in May 2019, saw their union become a subject of intense public scrutiny following a string of allegations and counter allegations.
At the heart of the dispute were duelling narratives. Regina accused the senator of abusive and controlling behaviour, allegations he has consistently denied. Nwoko, in turn, attributed their marital difficulties to alleged substance abuse by the actress, releasing a private WhatsApp message dated 17 October 2025, in which he expressed concern about late night disturbances, her associations, and what he described as erratic behaviour, warning that he would no longer fund her lifestyle unless she underwent therapy or rehabilitation.
Regina later publicly admitted to drug use but argued that Nwoko weaponised the issue to distract from the real problems in her marriage. She accused him of attempting to isolate her from her family and friends. She also claimed their union was never legally formalised. The crisis deepened with the brief detention of Regina’s brother, Samuel “Sammy West” Daniels, which she linked directly to Nwoko.
In September 2026, speculation about a possible reconciliation swept through social media after Regina was spotted at Nwoko’s residence. The visit triggered widespread rumours that the estranged couple had reunited, with some users even speculating that the actress was pregnant.
The rumours were quickly shut down by Regina’s family. Her mother, Rita Daniels, clarified that the actress had simply been invited to see her children.
“It is well, my dear. She was invited to see her children, that was what happened,” Rita said in a private Instagram exchange that was later shared publicly. Regina’s sister, Destiny, also dismissed the pregnancy speculation, attributing her changed appearance to weight gain and describing her sister as “still very much single for now”.
The visit nonetheless sparked frustration among some of Regina’s vocal supporters, including actor Stanley Ontop, who said he felt blindsided after having publicly defended her during the separation.
In his Monday statement, Senator Nwoko made clear that despite the difficulties they have faced, Regina’s well being has always mattered to him.
“Regardless of the difficulties we have faced, her well being has always mattered to me. It is, in fact, the very concern that brought much of our private situation into the public domain,” he said.
He expressed particular concern about the circulation of false and disturbing reports about her, including fabricated death announcements, misleading stories and other hurtful content.
“These things are not harmless social media engagement. Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery, rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying,” he said.
He called on her genuine fans to help discourage the behaviour instead of amplifying it. “I appeal to her fans, who genuinely care about her, to help discourage this behaviour instead of amplifying it,” he said.
The senator also made clear that those hiding behind social media accounts to invent stories would face consequences.
“I will not tolerate the deliberate spread of false information about Regina, particularly fabricated reports about her death, health or personal circumstances. Those hiding behind social media accounts to invent stories, mislead the public and exploit her situation for clicks and engagement should stop immediately,” he warned. “We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels.
