The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force in a strategic move aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, enhancing leadership capacity, and improving service delivery nationwide.
The development was disclosed in an official statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, who explained that the postings are part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the Force’s command structure and ensure the effective deployment of personnel across key commands, formations, and departments.
According to the statement, several Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) were affected in the shake-up. AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom has been posted to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, while AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has been assigned to head Zone 2, also in Lagos. AIG Miller G. Dantawaye has been deployed to the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Other postings include AIG Ado Emmanuel to the Department of Research and Planning, AIG Joseph Eribo to the Department of Armament, AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche to Training and Development, and AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo to Police Accounts and Budget, all at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In further deployments, AIG Dahiru Mohammed has been posted to Zone 15, Maiduguri, while AIG Dankombo F. Morris and AIG Bello Shehu have been assigned to Zones 4, Makurdi and 14, Katsina, respectively. AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba has been moved to Legal Services, while AIG Ahmed Musa has been tasked with overseeing Community Policing. AIG Haruna Olufemi has also been assigned to the Special Protection Unit.
At the level of Commissioners of Police (CPs), the redeployment affected several state commands. CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya has been posted to Jigawa State, CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola to Oyo State, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to Delta State, CP Olubode Ojajuni to Ogun State, and CP Michael Adegoroye Falade to Ekiti State.
Other postings include CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro to Adamawa State, CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed to the Federal Capital Territory, CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai to Lagos State, CP Morkwap S. Dongshal to Taraba State, CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello to Zamfara State, CP Umar Ali Fagge to Katsina State, and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan to Sokoto State.
In addition to state command postings, several Commissioners of Police were deployed to specialised units and formations, including INTERPOL, the Special Protection Unit, FCID formations, the Police College, and other operational departments at the Force Headquarters.
Notably, seasoned investigator CP Eloho Okpoziakpo has been appointed to head the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Lagos. Okpoziakpo, widely regarded as a crack detective, previously served in the unit during her time as a Chief Superintendent of Police, bringing significant experience to the role.
The Inspector General of Police charged all affected officers to bring their wealth of experience and professionalism to bear in their new assignments, emphasising the need to uphold discipline, integrity, and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
The redeployment is seen as part of broader reforms within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at repositioning the institution to effectively respond to evolving security challenges across the country while enhancing public confidence in policing.
