In a major intelligence-driven operation, troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), successfully intercepted a massive cache of terrorist supplies cleverly concealed within a trailer in Yobe State, dealing a significant blow to insurgent logistics.
The operation, codenamed DESERT SANITY IV, unfolded on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Acting on a tip-off, soldiers established snap checks along the critical Nguru-Gashua road.
At approximately 7:40 a.m., their vigilance paid off when they stopped a red 14-tyre trailer laden with what appeared to be innocent fabric materials. Sensing the consignment was suspicious, the troops moved the vehicle to a secure location for a thorough, careful inspection.
The true nature of the cargo was revealed hours later at 9:00 p.m. Beneath bundles of fabric, a meticulous search uncovered a trove of illicit supplies intended for terrorists:
· 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer, a primary component for manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
· 27 cartons of assorted drugs and 9 cartons of normal saline solution, critical medical supplies for treating wounded fighters.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for Operation HADIN KAI, the interception was a “major breakthrough.” Intelligence reports indicated the entire consignment was billed for onward movement to the Niger Republic, exposing a cross-border terrorist supply network.
This interception was part of a broader success on the same day. Earlier, at 10:30 a.m., troops on the same axis had stopped two Sharon vehicles and another trailer carrying large quantities of fabrics and solar panels. It is believed the terrorists were acquiring the fabric to produce uniforms for their fighters.
All drivers and motor boys involved in the red trailer operation are currently in custody pending further investigation.
Lt. Col. Uba assured the public that troops remain vigilant and committed to their mission of cutting off all supply chains that sustain terrorism and insurgency in the North-East region.
