Vows to complete all abandoned road projects
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, today flagged off the completion of the long-abandoned Kabala Costain to Aliyu Makama Link Dual Carriage Road.
The governor also vowed to complete the project, which was only 30% completed when his administration took office in May 2023.
The completion of this road is expected to significantly improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost economic activities in the region, further solidifying Kaduna State’s position as a hub of progress and opportunity in Nigeria.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Sani emphasized the transformative impact of the road, describing it as more than just an infrastructure project.
“This road is a lifeline for our people, a channel for commerce, and a pathway to opportunity,” he said. “Once completed, it will serve a substantial population within Kaduna City, especially the masses, and provide an alternative route for long-distance travelers, easing traffic congestion on other major roads.”
The Kabala Costain to Aliyu Makama Link Road is expected to enhance mobility for travelers from the northeastern and northwestern parts of the country heading to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and beyond.
The governor highlighted the importance of mobility and accessibility as critical drivers of economic growth and social integration.
Since assuming office, the Uba Sani administration has prioritized infrastructure development, initiating over 78 road projects across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas. These projects, covering approximately 775 kilometers, are part of the administration’s broader vision to connect communities, stimulate economic activity, and improve the quality of life for residents.
On December 24, 2024, the government commissioned 21 of these road projects, demonstrating steady progress in fulfilling its promises to the people of Kaduna.
Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing inherited projects and ensuring that contractors are adequately funded and held accountable for meeting deadlines. “We have mobilized the contractor with more than half of the funds required to complete this great project,” he said. “Our focus is clear: we are dedicated to connecting local communities and providing social and economic benefits to all.”
The governor also acknowledged the role of peace and security in enabling development, thanking the people of Kaduna State for their support and contributions to maintaining a peaceful environment.
“The atmosphere of peace and security has allowed us to concentrate fully on delivering the dividends of democracy,” he said. “Together, we are building a brighter future for Kaduna State.”
Governor Sani called on all stakeholders, including contractors and community leaders, to collaborate diligently to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of the Kabala Costain to Aliyu Makama Link Road. He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the project a reality, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to prioritize infrastructure as the backbone of development.
