Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called for a partnership between governments, media, security personnel, civil society organisations, and the diplomatic community to promote credible information management.
Mr Jonathan disclosed this during the second Diplomatic/Security, Trade and Investment International Conference organised by the Diplomatic Correspondent Association of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to him, democracies globally are increasingly confronted by threats of misinformation, disinformation, and extremist propaganda, urging stronger stakeholder collaboration to advance media literacy and resist conflict.
Mr Jonathan said, โI commend DICAN for creating a platform that brings together stakeholders in diplomacy, security, intelligence, trade, investment and the media to discuss solutions to contemporary global challenges.
โConversations like this are necessary, if we are to build safer societies, strengthen democratic governance and create an environment where economic growth and investment can thrive.โ
