Amid swirling rumours about former President Muhammadu Buhari’s health status, his former Digital Media Assistant, Bashir Ahmed, has come forward to clarify the situation.
Recent media reports had suggested the ex-president was critically ill and admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but Ahmed has dismissed these claims as exaggerated.
“It is true that former President Buhari is unwell and is currently receiving medical attention,” Ahmed stated. “However, contrary to the exaggerated claims circulating in the media, he is stable and responding well to treatment, and we are optimistic about his full recovery.”
The clarification followed unverified reports about Buhari’s health sparked concern among Nigerians and the international community. The 81-year-old former leader, who handed over power to President Bola Tinubu in May 2023 after serving two terms, has faced several health challenges in the past, including extended medical trips to London during his presidency.
Ahmed expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying: “We appreciate the prayers and goodwill from his supporters and well-wishers around the world. We continue to pray for his complete and speedy recovery.”
