The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that five of its personnel were killed and two others injured after suspected bandits ambushed a police patrol team in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area, on November 22, 2025.
In a statement released on Sunday evening, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil, identified the fallen officers as DSP Ahmad Muhammad, ASP Mustapha Muhammad, Inspector Amarhel Yunusa, Inspector Idris Ahmed, and Corporal Isah Muazu.
According to the statement, the officers were on an intelligence-driven patrol aimed at addressing farmerโherder tensions in the area when they came under heavy attack. Reinforcement units led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, moved swiftly to the scene, rescuing the injured officers and evacuating the remains of the deceased to the Darazo General Hospital.
Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, who visited the location of the attack, vowed that the Command would not relent until the perpetrators are captured and brought to justice. He extended his condolences to the families of the slain officers, describing their deaths as a painful reminder of the risks security personnel face daily.
โThe task is tough, but we remain fierce and relentless in securing lives and property,โ the statement added.
The Command urged residents to remain calm and support ongoing efforts to track down the attackers.
