The younger brother of former Minister of Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, Paganengigha Anagha will be arraigned before the federal high court in Abuja today ,being Tuesday for the alleged coup plot involving the erstwhile government official.
Spear News recall that the 2025 coup plot was allegedly orchestrated to forcefully unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Others to be arraigned alongside Anagha are Sylva’s driver, Musa Mohammed, plainclothes police detail, Ayuba Reuben and escort driver, Friday Lusa Paul.
Charges preferred against the coup suspects are yet, unclear and unavailable to public domain but close sources to the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF) confirmed the said arraignment at court 12.
Sylva, former Governor of Bayelsa State and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, had last year been associated with the stillborn coup plot against Tinubu late last year.
Being on self-exile presently in the United Kingdom, Sylva was said to be the main financier of the plot.
Investigation into his bank account revealed that on February 24, 2025, he had backed the illegitimate power takeover plot with a whooping sum ranging from N785 million to N46 billion.
The hidden agenda blew open when in late October 2025, soldiers and Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) operatives raided Sylva’s residences in Abuja and Bayelsa, nabbing the younger brother, Paga, and his driver into detention.
But further findings uncovered that Sylva has been evading arrest as he was reportedly jumping from one country to another particularly, Senegal and later Argentina.
However, the allegation later connected to the detention of about 16 military officers believed to have held coordinated meetings behind closed doors to topple the existing civilian regime..
But Sylva’s media aide, Mr Julius Bokoru in a statement dismissed the allegation as politically motivated.
Yet, an anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it is investigating a separate $14.8 million fraud and had proclaimed Sylva wanted since November last year.
