The Federal Government has addressed the delay in June 2025 salary payments for some civil servants, attributing the issue to a “technical network glitch” during processing.
In a statement released on Friday, July 11, 2025, by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), the government acknowledged complaints from employees, particularly those with accounts in Zenith Bank Plc.
“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were affected due to a technical network glitch during the processing of salaries at the bank,” the statement read.
The OAGF expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, stating, “We deeply regret the anxiety and frustration this situation has caused, particularly given the importance of timely salary payments to the livelihoods and responsibilities of our valued public servants.”
Assuring affected workers of a swift resolution, the office confirmed that “immediate steps have been taken to resolve the issue,” adding that it is “working closely with the relevant service providers and stakeholders to ensure that the failed payments are reprocessed without further delay.”
The statement urged patience, saying, “We appeal to all affected staff of the Federal Public Service to remain calm and rest assured that no effort will be spared in ensuring everyone receives their rightful salaries.”
The OAGF emphasised its commitment to payroll efficiency, stating, “The welfare of Federal Government employees remains a top priority,” while promising sustained improvements in service delivery.
Affected workers were assured that “concrete steps have already been taken to isolate the problem,” with reprocessing expected “in the shortest possible time.”
The office thanked civil servants for their understanding, saying, “Your patience during this difficult time is highly appreciated.”
No specific timeline was given, but the government assured that updates would follow as the situation progress.
