The Federal Government has fixed July 15, 2025, as the final date for settling all pending wage award arrears due to civil servants in different ministries and agencies.
George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, disclosed this development during a press conference on July 11, 2025.
He stated that the government is unhappy with the prolonged delay in payments and assured that the required funds have already been released for processing.
The arrears consist of five months of unpaid N35,000 wage awards for federal workers on the government payroll.
Officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) confirmed that the outstanding amount will be paid in monthly installments of N35,000 over five months.
This initiative falls under the governmentโs palliative measures designed to mitigate the impact of recent economic reforms.
While federal employees previously received five months of wage awards in staggered payments, the hold-up in settling the remaining balance has raised discontent among labor groups.
With the new July 15 deadline in place, affected workers can anticipate prompt payment of their overdue entitlements.
The OAGF has reiterated its assurance that the disbursement will proceed without additional setbacks, reaffirming the administrationโs dedication to fulfilling all salary and welfare agreements with its workforce.
