Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has congratulated the people of Bauchi State and Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends, promoting peace, and enhancing security across the state.
In a Democracy Day message issued on Thursday, the governor described the annual celebration as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey, symbolizing the triumph of the people’s will, the sustenance of democratic governance, and the nation’s collective pursuit of justice, freedom, accountability, and development.
Governor Mohammed noted that Democracy Day offers an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the country’s progress and honour the sacrifices of those who fought for the entrenchment of democratic values and institutions.
He said his administration remains focused on implementing people-centred policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents across Bauchi State.
According to him, notable achievements have been recorded in key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, water supply, youth and women empowerment, and social welfare.
The governor highlighted ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across urban and rural communities, improvements in healthcare delivery through the upgrade of medical facilities, and investments in education through the construction and renovation of schools.
He also pointed to agricultural support initiatives designed to boost food production and empower farmers, as well as investments in water resources, housing, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment programmes aimed at improving living standards and fostering sustainable development.
On security, Governor Mohammed acknowledged the challenges facing parts of the country but assured residents that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property through close collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
He said the government would continue to strengthen intelligence gathering, support security operations, and encourage community participation in efforts to combat crime and maintain public safety.
The governor urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing criminal activities.
“As we celebrate Democracy Day, I urge all citizens to renew their faith in the democratic process, uphold the values of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, and join hands with government in building a more prosperous, secure and united Bauchi State and Nigeria,” he stated.
Governor Mohammed also expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their continued support, prayers, and cooperation, assuring them of his administration’s resolve to sustain good governance and improve the welfare of all citizens.
He wished the people of Bauchi State and Nigerians at large a peaceful, memorable, and rewarding Democracy Day celebration.
The statement was signed by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor.
