Delta State Police have arrested multiple suspected kidnappers and armed robbers. They recovered several weapons. The haul included AK-47 rifles, a pump-action gun, and a Beretta pistol.
SP Edafe Bright , the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrests Tuesday. He said a special police team tracked down suspect Chedeye Mohammed in Rivers State. Officers arrested him at 6:20 PM following intelligence reports.
Mohammed led police to a hidden weapons cache. They found an AK-47 with thirteen rounds of ammunition. Investigations revealed the gang operated kidnappings across Ughelli and Agbarho. They used Rivers State as their hideout.
In Anyangba Town, Kogi State, officers arrested three more suspects. They were identified as Zakari Mohammed, 31, Ibrahim Mumuni, 29, and Mohammed Hamisu, 25. Searches of their homes uncovered more weapons.
A fourth suspect, Samaila Mohammed, 35, was arrested in Udo Community. He possessed a loaded Beretta pistol and ammunition.
On March 25, police arrested Emu Lucky, 35, in Isoko South LGA. They found eighty-two rounds of ammunition at his residence. Lucky allegedly supplied ammunition to kidnappers through Mohammed Bellow, who acted as a middleman.
CP Abaniwonda Olufemi promised continued efforts against crime. “We will fulfill the mandate set by the Inspector General,” he stated. “Delta State residents deserve to sleep peacefully without fear.”
