The Dangote Group has expressed its profound sadness following the death of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in a road incident involving one of its trucks in Auchi, Edo State.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company’s management said it was “deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor” and extended its “heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.”
The statement detailed the support provided since the accident, confirming that company officials and its insurance partners had been with her, “covering all financial and medical costs and supporting her family.” Arrangements had also been made to fly her to India for advanced treatment, pending clearance from her doctors.
“Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today,” the management stated. Reaffirming its core values, the group said, “At Dangote Group, safety, accountability, and compassion remain at the core of our operations. We remain committed to strengthening our safety systems and supporting those affected in moments of tragedy.”
The incident occurred recently in Auchi, when a truck associated with the Dangote Group was involved in a collision. Ruth Otabor sustained serious injuries in the accident and had been receiving medical care until her passing on Saturday, the 31st of August.
