Local government elections have commenced in Rivers State under a significant security blanket.
While voting begins, RSIEC officials in some areas, including Khana LGA, are finalizing the distribution of sensitive electoral materials to polling units. This follows the initial distribution of materials at the Port Harcourt headquarters on Friday, a process tightly secured and monitored by party agents.
With Governor Fubara suspended, the exercise is overseen by RSIEC Sole Administrator Ibas. The police command has enforced a statewide overnight curfew (midnight to 6 a.m.) to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
