The political crisis in Rivers State took a new turn on Thursday as the State House of Assembly announced the suspension of impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.
The decision followed the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, aimed at resolving the lingering feud between the governor and the lawmakers.
At a resumed sitting in Port Harcourt, the state capital, the House moved a motion to discontinue the impeachment process, bringing a temporary halt to the political tensions that have gripped the state.
