Four Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators on Wednesday notified the Senate officially of their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Two of the senators are from Akwa Ibom, the state of the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
They are Senator Aniekun Etim Bassey (Akwa Ibom North-East); and Senator Ekong Sampson (Akwa Ibom-South).
The two others are Senator Francis Fadahunsi (Osun-East); and Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun-Central), who had earlier in the week made their defection public.
In their separate letters read by Akpabio, all the defectors alluded to the crisis and “division” in the PDP as their main reason for dumping the opposition party.
They also expressed a desire to fully support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewal Hope Agenda.
“I have been very impressed by the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda”, Fadahunsi wrote.
