Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing “irreparable” divisions within the party.
In a resignation letter sigted by Spear News on Saturday and addressed to his Ward 4 PDP Chairman in Obokun LGA, the senator announced his immediate exit, blaming “irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles” plaguing the PDP since the 2023 general elections.
โI wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level,โ Fadahunsi wrote in the letter dated June 12, 2025.
The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Industry, stated that his decision followed โconsultation and engagement with my political associates, family, and friends.โ He appealed for his resignation to be “accepted in good faith.”
This development adds to the PDPโs internal crises, which have deepened since its 2023 electoral losses. More resignations may follow, sources within the party fear.
