The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally resolved to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South for a single term of four years, after which the ticket will return to the North.
The resolution was reached during the ongoing convention at the Los Angeles Event Centre along Ahmadu Bello Way, where delegates ratified the decision after extensive deliberations on the zoning formula for the party’s presidential candidature.
According to the terms of the agreement, the South will produce the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 general election, with the understanding that the ticket will revert to the North after a single four-year term.
The decision aims to balance the party’s national spread and address concerns about equitable power rotation among the six geopolitical zones.
The convention, which commenced at approximately 10 a.m., continues with the ratification of the amended party constitution and the election of national executives.
