The All Progressives Congress (APC) has achieved total control of Benue State’s representation in the House of Representatives following the defection of Ojema Ojotu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ojotu, who represents the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, formally crossed over on Tuesday, elevating the APC’s tally from 10 to all 11 federal seats from the state. His defection letter, read by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, cited the “perennial crisis” within the PDP as his reason for leaving.
The move was immediately challenged by the opposition, who demanded his seat be declared vacant, but the move was blocked by the majority leader, who argued the defection was justified due to unresolved party crises.
