The Bauchi State High Court on Friday ordered the remand of former Accountant-General of the state, Sa’idu Abubakar, in prison custody over allegations of large-scale financial misconduct.
Abubakar was arraigned on a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, and alleged diversion of public funds running into billions of naira.
The charges followed a petition filed by the Bauchi State Government in August 2025, accusing him and others of embezzlement and abuse of public trust. The case, investigated by the Nigerian Police, came up for hearing today.
The presiding judge adjourned the matter to September 22, 2025, for continuation of hearing.
