In a sweeping 72-hour nationwide offensive, the Nigerian Army has delivered a crushing blow to terrorist and criminal networks, neutralizing 47 combatants and rescuing over 30 kidnapped victims in a series of coordinated land and air operations.
The militaryโs sustained push across multiple theatres of operation yielded significant results, from aggressive ground patrols in the North West to precision airstrikes in the North East.
The Air Component executed decisive strikes on key logistics bases and convergence points of ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Borno State, with intelligence confirming the neutralization of at least 42 terrorists.
Secondary explosions observed at the sites indicated the successful destruction of arms and explosives stockpiles.
Simultaneously, ground troops across the North West and North Central regions engaged terrorists based on credible intelligence.
In Sokoto State, troops from forward operating bases in Binji and Tangaza LGAs neutralized three terrorists in ambush operations, recovering weapons and communication gear.
Operations in Niger, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Plateau States led to further terrorists neutralized, hideouts destroyed, and armed robbery or kidnapping attempts foiled. Troops also arrested cattle rustling suspects and recovered rustled livestock.
The offensive extended to the South-South and South-East, where troops in Rivers State arrested suspects planning illegal activities, while in Delta State, they intercepted and seized approximately 1,700 litres of stolen crude oil, striking a blow against economic sabotage.
A critical outcome of the operations was the safe rescue of over 30 kidnapped civilians, including women and children. All victims have been evacuated, provided necessary medical attention, and reunited with their families.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the commitment to intelligence-driven and joint operations.
The Nigerian Army has reassured citizens of its resolve to maintain this offensive momentum in collaboration with sister services and security agencies, aiming to restore lasting peace and security across the nation.
