The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has urged troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to remain resolute and professional while intensifying efforts to restore peace across North-West.
Mr Shaibu gave the charge on Thursday during his maiden operational visit to the operationโs area of responsibility in Zamfara.
A statement by the army spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, on Thursday in Abuja, said Mr Shaibu commended the troops for their resilience and sacrifices despite the complex security challenges in the region.
He assured personnel that the service was taking urgent steps to address operational gaps and welfare concerns raised by troops on the frontlines.
Mr Shaibu promised to address all the issues affecting land and air components of the operation in collaboration with other services.
โThe Nigerian Army remains committed to improving troopsโ motivation, equipment, and overall support systems to enhance operational effectiveness,โ he said.
Mr Shaibu urged the personnel to conduct themselves professionally and continue to sustain the confidence of citizens who depend on them for protection.
โThese challenges are transient. Remain resolute, remain determined, and continue to do your job with professionalism. The Nigerian people appreciate your service,โ he added.
