The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld a previous judgment barring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising or validating the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a ruling delivered on Monday by the appellate court affirmed the earlier order, dealing a significant blow to the faction of the party associated with the contested convention.
The courtroom was filled with members of the main opposition party, with supporters from both the faction backing the convention and those opposing it present to witness the delivery of the judgment.
Details of the court’s full reasoning are expected to be made available shortly.
