The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has dissolved its executive structures across Bauchi State, from the ward to the state level, and inaugurated a seven-member caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs.
The National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam, announced the decision on Tuesday in Bauchi during the swearing-in of the caretaker committee at the Government House.
Akuyam explained that the dissolution followed developments within the party over the past few weeks.
He said the decision was reached at a recent meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) and subsequently ratified by the National Executive Council (NEC) on Saturday.
According to him, the caretaker committee has been mandated to administer the party’s affairs for one month and organise transparent congresses to elect new executives at the ward, local government and state levels.
He added that the exercise would harmonise the two party structures that had been merged into one.
“I am standing here on behalf of the National Chairman, the National Working Committee and members of NEC to conduct this swearing-in ceremony,” Akuyam said.
Speaking after his inauguration, the caretaker committee chairman, Alhaji Shehu Adaji, pledged to promote inclusive leadership, transparency and unity in rebuilding the party’s grassroots structures across the state.
Adaji expressed appreciation to the NWC, led by the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, for entrusting the committee with the responsibility.
“We pledge to justify this confidence through loyalty, discipline, transparency and dedicated service to the party,” he said.
He also acknowledged the support of the party’s national leader and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, whom he credited with facilitating the committee’s appointment and supporting efforts to strengthen the party in the state.
Describing ward and local government executives as the foundation of the party’s grassroots mobilisation, Adaji assured members that the committee would adopt a consultative approach that promotes inclusion and mutual respect.
He identified strengthening party structures, fostering unity and reconciliation, improving communication between state and grassroots leaders, and encouraging wider participation among members as key priorities of the committee.
Adaji urged party stakeholders to set aside personal differences and work collectively towards building a united, disciplined and well-organised party in Bauchi State.
“We call on stakeholders and party members to put aside personal differences and work together for a united, disciplined and better organised APM in Bauchi State,” he said.
The caretaker committee chairman reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to complying with the party’s constitution and lawful directives as it works towards conducting congresses and establishing new executive structures.
The seven-member caretaker committee comprises Alhaji Shehu Adaji as chairman, Bello Mahmoud, Isiyaku Abdullahi, Lubabatu Ibrahim, Adamu Shuaibu, Mantuda Halan and Buhari Gentle.
