A youth group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Renewed Hope for Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (RHYDEI), has promised to mobilise 20 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The group was launched at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja over the weekend.
RHYDEI has the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as its National Chairman.
Other leaders of the group include Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, as North West Chairman; Dr Raymond Asemakaha as North Central Chairman; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, as South West Chairman; Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, as South South Chairman; and Kingsley Ezekwelu, a member of the House of Representatives, as South East Chairman.
However, Abbas and the five zonal chairmen were absent at the launch. The President of RHYDEI, Abayomi Odediran, said they were away on other official assignments.
Speaking at the event, Odediran said the group would work across all 774 local government areas in the country to mobilise support for Tinubu.
He said, “You have nothing to worry about. RHYDEI is ready and fully prepared to work for your return and to secure your second term in office.”
Odediran said the group would take the message of the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda to wards across the country.
He also praised Tinubu for removing the fuel subsidy, saying the decision had helped save the country and stabilise the economy.
The RHYDEI president also criticised individuals who, according to him, paid an American law firm to campaign against Tinubu during the ongoing 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
He said the group would defend the president both online and offline and ensure that Nigerians were informed about the achievements of his administration.Nigerian Culture Magazine
“This is a love movement. We are going to show Nigerians that Jagaban is loved at home,” Odediran said.
He further announced plans to train 10,000 youth ambassadors across the country. According to him, the ambassadors will explain and defend the achievements of the Tinubu administration in communities, markets and on social media.
Odediran also said RHYDEI would work with Federal Government agencies to ensure that at least one million young Nigerians benefit from skills training, grants and loans before the 2027 elections.
The launch ended with the inauguration of coordinators for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
