The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly demanded the repayment of over N150 million in what it describes as outstanding loans and membership dues from its former National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
The demand comes weeks after the party’s founding chieftain defected to the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on Thursday by the state party chairman, Mr. Jarrett Tenebe, the APC asserted that the liabilities were accrued during Odigie-Oyegun’s tenure as both a leader and the pioneer national chairman of the party.
According to the party, repeated private requests for settlement were ignored.
The statement reads in part: “We have formally demanded the settlement of debts owed by the National Leader of the ADC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Our records reveal accumulated membership dues which he refused to pay into the party’s coffers all through his membership, as well as loans advanced during his leadership.”
This move is widely seen as the latest escalation in a growing political feud, following Oyegun’s departure and his subsequent role as a vocal critic of the APC and President Bola Tinubu.
He has been actively mobilising opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.
