Community leaders in Obilikpa, Eziama Agbo, have declared that Obilikpa people cannot be deceived by mere promises, as they declared total support for the APC Candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha ahead of 2027.
The declaration followed an alleged attempt by the Labour Party candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Amobi Ogah, who, they said, came to the community four months ago and claimed to have flagged off the Obilikpa Road, with no contractor seen on site till date. The road was one Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha had half completed during her stint as their representative in the House of Representatives.
“Obilikpa people cannot be deceived by mere promises. Our support for Onyejeocha is based on visible projects,” stated Comrade Okorie Obiefula, who hosted Hon. Onyejeocha in his residence, where grassroots mobilization was flagged off for her re-election bid.
The position was also corroborated by Nze Boniface Okorie and other speakers at the event.
Obiefula thanked Hon. Onyejeocha for the construction of Obilikpa Nneato Road and for facilitating federal employment for sons and daughters of the community. He assured that Obilikpa will not only deliver its polling units but the entire Eziama Agbo Ward for the former minister.
In a related development, the Traditional Ruler of Aro Ikpa Autonomous Community, His Royal Majesty, Eze Ernest O. Onwuka, JP (Ikpa I of Aro Ikpa), described Onyejeocha as a great asset to Isuikwuato/Umunneochi, saying her good qualities are unquantifiable.
Eze Onwuka, who hosted Hon. Onyejeocha in his palace, recalled that over 20 years ago, she was among the first set of leaders he conferred with a chieftaincy title because of her age-long contributions to community development.
“I have been a part of Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha’s political journey from day one and I cannot back out now, because she has maintained a strong developmental record that surpasses her rivals,” the monarch declared.
He cited beneficiaries of the Onyejeocha Foundation from the community, including Mr. Osundu whom she trained and secured employment for, and Mrs. Ijeoma Okere who, through her support, went to school, got a job and is now in London with her family.
The monarch also drew her attention to the community’s pressing needs, including access roads and their uncompleted worship centre. He, alongside HRH Eze Azoro Emmanuel, Onu Ogo I of Okwe, and HRH Eze Kenneth Maduka, Ahia I of Oho Ahia, jointly prayed and blessed her re-election bid for 2027.
Community leaders including Chief Elder Kenneth Nwafor, Okpuru Isi I of Aro Ikpa; Elder Sunday Green and Mazi Awa Imo, assured of their resolve to support her.
Responding during both visits, Hon. Onyejeocha, thanked the royal fathers and the people for their confidence.
She recalled how HRM Eze Onwuka and other traditional rulers begged her in her early political days to represent the Federal Constituency, a call that brought her this far.
On Obilikpa Road, she clarified for the record that the road was borne out of her conviction to open up the remote community to neighbouring towns, and warned those seeking personal aggrandizement to desist from claiming otherwise.
She promised to extend the road to the boundary in Orumba L.G.A, Anambra State, and to consolidate on all ongoing projects already captured in the National Budget.
She assured both communities that she will not take their support for granted and will sustain her developmental tempo by God’s grace.
