The Edo State Government has announced the immediate replacement of Ahmed Musa Momoh as Executive Director and CEO of the Edo State Flood, Erosion and Watershed Management Agency (EDOFEWMA), with Arch. Fashanu Emmanuel taking over the role.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government on Monday, Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the appointment, citing the need for fresh leadership in tackling the state’s environmental challenges. “Arch. Fashanu Emmanuel brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will drive the agency’s mandate in flood and erosion control,” the statement read.
The outgoing CEO, Ahmed Musa Momoh, was relieved of his duties without further details on the reason for his removal. However, government sources suggest the move aligns with the governor’s push for “renewed efficiency” in key agencies.
The decision is coming just hours after Governor Monday Okpebholo suspended Felix Osemwengie Isere, his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, following allegations of unauthorised fundraising activities.
The suspension relates to purported solicitations for an upcoming oil and gas summit in the state.
A statement from the governor’s office confirmed the immediate suspension, citing a breach of protocol. “The governor will not tolerate any conduct that undermines due process in government activities,” the statement read.
Isere’s suspension comes as the state prepares for its inaugural oil and gas investment summit, though officials clarified that no approved fundraising efforts were authorised for the event.
The suspension underscores Governor Okpebholo’s stance on accountability, with observers noting it serves as a warning to other appointees. This administration will enforce strict adherence to financial regulations.
No timeline has been given for the investigation’s conclusion or potential reinstatement.
