Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have launched an aggressive manhunt for targeted splinter cells following the elimination of Islamic State’s global second-in-command, Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki.
This followed a precision joint operation with United States forces at Metele, Borno State in the early hours of Saturday.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the operation, battle damage assessment is currently ongoing, and troops are conducting aggressive follow-on exploitation operations to decimate identified splinter cells and prevent any attempt at reconstitution.
The message from the military high command is unmistakable: the terrorist network that sheltered Al-Minuki must be dismantled completely, and no breathing space will be given for regrouping.
In the early hours of Saturday, May 16, 2026, a landmark joint counter-terrorism operation of historic significance unfolded over the Lake Chad Basin.
The operation commenced at approximately 0001 hours and concluded around 0400 hours. It was the culmination of a protracted joint intelligence effort involving legal intercept operations and sustained reconnaissance that achieved full target development and fidelity.
