The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has informed its valued customers of an upcoming disruption to power supply resulting from scheduled maintenance on a critical gas facility.
In a public notice issued on Friday, AEDC explained that the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced a planned shutdown of a major gas supply facility, which is expected to last from 12th to 15th February 2026.
During this period, gas availability to key thermal power generating stations connected to the national grid will be temporarily reduced.
This will lead to a decline in available generation capacity nationwide, which may necessitate load management across parts of the AEDC franchise area.
The company assured customers that any load shedding implemented will strictly follow national grid directives, with priority given to critical infrastructure and essential services.
“Full gas supply is expected to be restored on 16th February 2026. We remain committed to transparent communication and will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves”, AEDC stated.
AEDC appreciates the patience and understanding of its customers during this period.
