The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s unexplained five-day absence after the 2025 BRICS Summit in Brazil.
In a statement by its Interim National Publicity, the opposition party questioned why Tinubu only returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Sunday, July 13, five days after the summit ended on July 7, while other world leaders had since resumed duties.
“Since the summit ended on Monday, July 7th, all other world leaders returned home, briefed their citizens, and got back to work,” the ADC stated. “But our President only reappeared in Abuja in the early hours of Sunday, July 13—without a word, without a briefing, or any explanation.”
The statement also condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for tolerating what it called a “disdain for transparency,” warning that such behavior damages Nigeria’s global image.
The ADC demanded immediate clarification on Tinubu’s whereabouts, insisting that “Nigerians deserve to know why their president goes missing at critical times.”
