Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, on Sunday, suddenly dumped his touted gubernatorial bid to reposition himself for a parliamentary reelection.
His change of political interest became a publice knowledge when Kalu, unannounced appeared on Sunday before the APC Screening Committee for the House of Representatives primaries in Bende Federal Constituency of Abia state contrary to expectations.
Spear News recalls the ebullient deputy Speaker had put gubernatorial fight to wrest power from the incumbent governor, Alex Otti who is presently gunning for re-election come 2027 general polls and even challenged Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North senatorial district over the control of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
But his decision to return to the House of Representatives has continued to generate reactions within major political circles of the State and among supporters of the APC.
His gubernatorial supporters are now wondering what has really happened that he had to leave them at the middle of the road after engaging his Guber rivals in verbal war.
