A British-Nigerian social media influencer has died following a botched penis enlargement procedure during a luxury holiday in Thailand, a coroner’s inquest has revealed.
Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, 43, who was also known as Denisi or Ego to his 185,000 Instagram followers, underwent the cosmetic procedure at a clinic in Bangkok in March while travelling with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen.
According to an inquest at Inner West London Coroners’ Court, Ubiribo had 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine injected into his penis during the operation.
Shortly after the procedure, the couple reportedly went for a massage, where the influencer suddenly complained of chest pain and collapsed twice.
He was rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism — a blood clot blocking an artery in the lungs. Medics performed CPR for over 100 minutes in a desperate bid to save him, but he was pronounced dead in the early hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination later conducted in the UK reportedly found traces of hyaluronic acid in his lungs, matching the substance used during the procedure. Coroner Jean Harkin ruled that the death was caused by a pulmonary embolism directly resulting from the cosmetic surgery.
Ubiribo, known for flaunting his lavish lifestyle online, was laid to rest in London in a gold coffin reportedly worth $745,000.
His funeral was attended by prominent Nigerian celebrities, including Afrobeats superstar Davido and socialite Cubana Chief Priest.
