Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro has revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is negotiating the return of Peter Obi and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The PDP chieftain disclosed this during a Tuesday appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, confirming ongoing discussions to bring both prominent figures back into the party.
Senator Moro, representing Benue South, stated that the talks are part of the party’s strategy ahead of the next election cycle, though no formal agreements have been announced.
โIn the run-up to 2027, I am aware certain individuals have been talking to Peter Obi, โHey, come back home, this is what we are likely to do, and if you come, you stand a chance of being the candidateโ,โ Moro said on the show.
Addressing speculation about former President Jonathan,Moro revealed that discussions are underway, stating, โWell, some persons are talking to the former president, to come and run, and itโs a possibility.โ
โBut there are those who fear constitutionalism, based on how many times he has been sworn into office, and those who are warning it might be dangerous, but thereโs nothing dangerous there.
โYou recall that in 2015 when former President Jonathan wanted to run, there were cries all over the case about the constitutionality of his candidature, but eventually it was settled even by the court, that he was qualified to run, and that is why he ran.โ
