The Nasarawa State Information and Digital Economy Agency (NASITDEA) says it will train youths in the state on cybersecurity to tackle cybercrime and promote peace.
Haruna Sani, the director-general of the agency, made this known on Friday in Lafia when the agencyโs management appeared before the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education on its 2026 budget performance.
He said training youths on cybersecurity would go a long way in promoting unity, peace, and the socio-economic development of the state.
Mr Sani assured that the agency would continue to train youths in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), considering its importance to human and societal development.
He appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule and the committee for supporting the agencyโs activities.
The director-general also assured the committee of his commitment to the development of the agency.
Mr Sani, however, appealed for more fund releases for the agencyโs development.
Abel Bala, the chairman of the committee, said the Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, had directed all House standing committees to embark on oversight functions of MDAs to ensure that they do the right things.
Mr Bola, represented by Luka Zhekaba, the vice chairman of the committee, said the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had empowered them to assess the budget performance of MDAs, hence the need for the exercise.
โMr Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr Danladi Jatau, has directed us to embark on an oversight function to MDAs.
โAs the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has empowered us to oversight your agency to assess your 2026 budget performance.
โYou are to tell us the percentage of your budget performance from January to date,โ he said.
Mr Bala commended Mr Sule for investing in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the state.
He urged the agency to improve its revenue generation for the overall development of the state.
The committee chairman also urged the agency to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enable it to succeed.
Mr Bala further assured them of the committeeโs support for success.
