Leaders and party faithful in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State have commended the immediate past Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, for her intervention on the UrurualaโUturuโIsuikwuato Road during her stint as member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, describing the project as life-saving.
This comes as they endorsed her return to the House of Representatives in 2027 as a gesture of goodwill for her service to humanity.
The commendation came during a reception held in her honour in Isuikwuato, where members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and community stakeholders gathered to receive the former minister.
In his remarks, a former chairman of the council, Chima Agbaeze, said the road had claimed many lives before Onyejeocha’s intervention, recounting an incident in which a couple and their children died after their vehicle plunged into a ditch while returning home during the Christmas period.
“You are God-sent. You saved our lives, you saved our homes, and you restored the UrurualaโUturuโIsuikwuato Road. You saved the people of Bende. Isuikwuato is indebted to you, and humanity will remember you. God will continue to bless you for Ndi Isuikwuato and Umunneochi,” Mr. Agbaeze said.
He added that the people of the constituency had missed her voice in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly and accused the current representative of failing to effectively represent the people.
Also speaking, Chiamaka Udo Onwuka, founder of the Udoamaka Movement for Good Governance, praised Onyejeocha’s commitment to service, humility and proactiveness, and pledged the group’s support for her re-election in 2027.
In her response, Onyejeocha
thanked Jude and Chiamaka Udoamaka for hosting the event and reiterated her commitment to putting the people first.
She said she was returning to consolidate on her previous achievements.
Reflecting on the 2023 election, she said: “I didn’t lose in 2023. The records are there. But God has a reason for everything. He sent me on an assignment to the executive and I played my part. I thank God for that phase of life.”
The event was attended by Chief Bethel Eze (Nwadiora Nma 1 of Isuochi); Emeka Okoroafor, APC State Organising Secretary; Uche Okorio, APC Chairman, Isuikwuato LGA; Chief Ikechukwu Okorie, an APC chieftain; Prince Chris Agbai, a community leader; Uche Oleh, coordinator of the Onyejeocha Youth Movement in Isuikwuato LGA; Enyioma Ekebuike, Secretary-General of the Isuikwuato Development Union; Odinuko, coordinator of the City Boys in Isuikwuato LGA; and other stakeholders.
