The governor gave the commendation during a press briefing after a closed-door meeting with security commanders and traditional rulers from affected communities.
He revealed that the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out coordinated ground and aerial operations across forest routes linking Bauchi with Plateau and Taraba states, leading to the overrunning of several criminal hideouts.
According to him, the offensive resulted in the destruction of banditsโ logistics and the neutralization of many suspects, while others fled due to sustained military pressure. He added that motorcycles used by the criminals were also destroyed, severely limiting their movement and operational capacity.
Governor Mohammed noted that security forces have since taken control of the affected forest areas to prevent the return of fleeing bandits and ensure sustained stability.
He further announced enhanced security strategies, including biometric registration of residents in vulnerable communities, improved intelligence gathering, and stricter monitoring of public spaces such as markets and motor parks.
