Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has urged President Bola Tinubu to make public the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), claiming that Judith Amaechi, wife of former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, received N48 billion under the pretext of training women in the Niger Delta.
Wike made these allegations during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today late Friday.
He accused Amaechi’s wife of collecting N4 billion monthly for one year for supposed women’s empowerment programs in the region.
“I call on Mr. President to release the forensic audit of NDDC. To Amechi’s wife’s company, every month, N4 billion, to train Niger Delta women for one year, N48 billion. And the forensic report audit is there,” Wike stated.
He further alleged that **former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami suppressed the audit report to protect those implicated.
“It was Malami, the Attorney General at the time, that killed that document to protect those who were concerned,” he said.
Wike boldly declared that if his claims were proven false, he would resign as FCT Minister.
“If what I am saying is not in the document, I will resign as the Minister of FCT. I said I would resign. I don’t worship office,” he added.
The minister also questioned Amaechi’s educational qualifications, escalating their long-running feud.
Spear News reports that Wike’s remarks came in response to Amaechi’s recent comment on the same program, where he described Wike’s wealth as “questionable.”
Both politicians are former governors of Rivers State—Amaechi from 2007 to 2015 and Wike from 2015 to to 2019. Initially allies in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), their relationship soured after Amaechi defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
