The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has firmly denied reports of a shutdown or suspension of fuel loading activities, describing such claims as misleading.
In a statement issued on Friday by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, the refinery clarified that it remains fully operational and continues to supply petrol and diesel across Nigeria without disruption.
The rebuttal comes after recent media reports suggested that the refinery was planning a 15-day maintenance shutdown of its petrol-producing unit, the Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC), starting August 10. Some outlets also reported a temporary halt in fuel loading operations.
The refinery acknowledged that routine maintenance is being carried out but emphasized that such activities are standard in refinery operations and do not affect fuel supply.
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is fully operational. There has been no shutdown, nor has there been any suspension of truck loading activities,” the statement read.
The refinery also confirmed that its ex-depot petrol price remains N850 per litre, dispelling rumors of an imminent price hike due to supposed supply constraints.
In a bold response to speculation about fuel shortages, the refinery challenged skeptics to place immediate orders for 40 million litres of petrol (PMS) and 15 million litres of diesel (AGO) daily for the next 90 days—a move meant to prove its production capacity.
“To those who believe this misinformation and anticipate a bullish market, we extend a challenge: Place your orders now,” the statement declared.
The refinery reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and supporting Nigeria’s energy security, noting that it supplies over 40 million litres of petrol daily alongside steady diesel volumes.
As Africa’s largest single-train refinery, Dangote continues to leverage advanced maintenance protocols to ensure seamless operations, dismissing shutdown rumors as unfounded.
