Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has condemned the brutal killing of 12 citizens from Kaduna State in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing the act as “savagery” that must not go unpunished.
The victims were reportedly traveling to Quan Pan Local Government for a wedding when they were attacked, with 11 others sustaining injuries.
In a statement issued on June 21, 2025, Governor Sani called on security agencies to “leave no stone unturned until these criminal elements are hunted down and brought to justice.”
He emphasised that “there is no justification for anybody to attack any citizen of Nigeria in any part of the country,” declaring, “This madness must stop. Enough is enough.”
The governor urged Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, to take decisive action, stating, “He must take full charge of the situation and direct the operations of the security agencies until the murderers are brought to justice.” Governor Sani vowed to personally monitor the investigation, warning that “impunity will no longer be tolerated.”
While calling for calm among Kaduna State citizens, Governor Sani assured that efforts were underway to secure justice for the victims.
He highlighted Kaduna State’s progress in peacebuilding, noting that its “Kaduna Peace Model” proves a “toxic environment can be turned to an ‘oasis of peace.'” He expressed confidence that Plateau State’s situation is “not irredeemable,” insisting that “the bloodshed must stop.”
Governor Sani extended his condolences to the bereaved families, stating, “Our deepest condolences to the families of our citizens who lost their precious lives in Mangu Local Government.” He confirmed being in touch with the victims’ families and promised support, including medical care for the injured. “May the gentle souls of our departed citizens rest in perfect peace,” he added.
