Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has instructed the board overseeing paramilitary recruitment to immediately resolve technical problems plaguing the application website.
The directive comes in response to a high volume of complaints from applicants who have been unable to check their status or track their application progress weeks after participating in the process.
The recruitment is for four services: the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Friday, the minister acknowledged the issues, attributing them to an ongoing data upload process. He stated he has intervened to speed up a resolution.
“Following recent complaints from applicants into the paramilitary agencies who are still unable to determine their fate due to the ongoing upload of information,” Dr Tunji-Ojo wrote, “I have directed the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) to ensure that all uploads are completed immediately.”
The CDCFIB had announced on Thursday that applicants would be able to check their status from Friday. However, many users attempting to use the portal reported numerous glitches.
Some found the website failed to load after entering their login details. Others discovered a more concerning problem: their dashboards displayed application details for different paramilitary services than the ones they had originally applied for.
One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted a screenshot showing this discrepancy, writing: “Who else is seeing this? The applicant applied for NIS, and to this point, the guarantor’s form is showing Fire Service.”
Another user shared an image of an error message from the website, expressing a common frustration about the transparency of the exercise.
